Green Man

How is it possible to take 190 photos in eight days? Well, we did it. Surely we have the most photographed baby in all the land. Right?

Here's how we spent those 8 days.

We posed for a series of staged but nonetheless cute-as-hell pictures in the crib.

We got some work done.

We practiced standing.

Partied like a roma. Again.

Practiced swimming like a fish.

Wore our sweatshirt.

Worked out our thunder-thighs.

Did some yoga.

Read/Ate books.

Did some fashion work.

Played with Harry.

And watched it snow.

Green Stuff Redux

Using the same high-tech photographic techniques that you saw in The Matrix films we were able to capture the high-velocity flow of green stuff exiting BR's mouth during yesterday's sneeze. Is that incredible or what?

Green Stuff

Some of you baby-havers out there are probably asking yourselves, “How do I get my baby to eat green vegetables that aren’t avocados?”

Well, we at the Amago Mundi labs have come up with a great recipe for getting our baby to eat peas. Here it is:

First of all, don’t force it.

Take some baby cereal—rice or oats will do—and mix it with breast milk or formula.

Then add a little bit of apple sauce.

Then take your nice homemade cooked and pureed peas and put almost none in the mix. If the mix looks green at all then there is too much pea paste in there.

Now you are ready to feed your baby. If he is anything like our baby, he will eat about half and then start gagging.

It’s now time to stop trying to get your baby to eat green things and move on to sweeter stuff like pure apple sauce, sweet potatoes, or anything else not green.

The Dilettante Goose

So, we got goosed. And since I'm here in my office waiting for Benny to wake up from his nap so that Ms. A can come and pick me up, I'll play along, Kathleen:

"What Hollywood delivers is presumed to be what the audience wanted, largely based on the economic argument that the industry anticipates and markets to audience demand. Schatz's examples fit unambiguously within single categories (musicals, westerns) and therefore pose few problems about generic placement and interpretation. The reader's decision to purchase a ticket to such a film thus signals their acceptance of a set of conventional expectations about the likely development of the plot or disposition of the characters; once the appropriate genre is identified and accepted, readers simply interpret the narrative according to those conventions."

Yes, Textual Poachers was the nearest book to my right hand. Interestingly enough, there is some connection to science fiction in there. Ah, academic writing. You've got to love it.

And since I don't know what a meme is (and am all around ignorant to meme theory), this goose is going to die here, I think.

Well, we had a really great weekend with Gramma Jo, who selflessly volunteered to stay home with the baby while we went out for a Valentine's Day dinner and movie (Thursday night); spent an evening out at the local public house (Friday night); and got together with friends sans kids for some of the jazz music (Saturday night). We even got to go to a matinée on Sunday afternoon.

Now everything is back to normal, but we do miss our Jo Jo. And not just because she takes such good care of her grandson. She also makes terrific lentil soup! It is soooo nice to have grandparents in town. We can't wait for the arrival of the Abuelos de Pasadena in March. No pressure, though.

Flying Baby Redux

You may remember our warning about flying babies. Well, we caught one on film. Check this out:

What?! Don't Tell Me You're Still Checking For Updates Manually!

Gentle reader, are you still checking this site regularly for updates? That's obsessive compulsive behavior, friend! Why not get your lazy on and subscribe to the blog?

You've got a few choices:
  • By signing up for a service like RssFwd so that new posts are emailed to you when they are published.
  • By using a web-based aggregator like Google Reader, so you can read your favorite blogs wherever you are, even when you're say, on Christmas vacation.
  • By using some other aggregator like your email client or browser. However, this choice is a little too high-tech for me to figure out.
  • By clicking on the "Subscribe to Posts" [Atom] link down there on the lower right.

Never worry about missing a hilarious and touching Amago Mundi post again!

Green Beans

We are not sure if this video is going to make us look like cruel parents, but we thought it was imperative to get this footage out there for the grandmothers to enjoy.

You will see, however, that in the end the baby finally gets his revenge on us for laughing at the faces he makes while eating pureed green beans.

So, what did we learn? We have discovered that green beans, unlike revenge, are best served warm mixed with a little bit of rice cereal and milk. Benny still likes plain rice cereal best, however, as you can see.

(Also, we did not put Tabasco in the baby food. That was a joke.)

In general he really likes eating, and clearly we really love feeding him.

We love this kid.

Milk Fiend

This is a test of the emergency baby broadcast system. This is only a test.

Homey loves his milk.
